Robots

In my early university days the world was made up of two types of computer scientists. Those who spoke software and those who grunted hardware.

In fact, the hardware guys (almost always guys) didn’t like being called scientists. They were engineers. I was a software gal myself. Hardware was beyond me and robotics, the interdisciplinary research area of computer science and engineering, was waay beyond.

However I know enough to appreciate the challenges. Actions that humans take for granted like walking, weight transference, balance and equilibrium are incredibly hard problems to solve in robotics.

Which makes this video by the robots at Boston Dynamics so awesome. Really truly awesome.
