Tell me something good … and wholly unrelated to COVID19.
A year ago I shared a video of an up & coming Mongolian rock band – The HU.
Since then, they’ve come a long way from Ulaanbaatar.
They’ve toured world wide and performed concerts to sold out audiences in Europe and US. Last year, they were discovered by game producers at EA.
Now they’re on the soundtrack for a new video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
As before, the song features their distinctive throat singing, classic Mongolian instruments and addictive head bobbing beat. The language however is not Mongolian. It’s a new language created for the Star Wars world.
Have a listen.
In the next video, the members of The HU describe the origins of the group, their instruments and creation process. In the latter half, the EA game producers describe how they matched the group’s music to the Star Wars universe.
I am not a gamer, so I can’t comment on the video game. I do like the idea though, of traditional folk music bridging time, space and the universe.
