Friendly Friday Challenge: ART UNEXPECTED

I admit it.  I am not a fine arts connoisseur.  I appreciate individual pieces of art  but I hate the collective stuffiness of most museums. I prefer my art in the street. I like it when art imposes itself on my regular day. I like the jolt of finding art unexpectedly.

In today’s Friendly Friday Challenge I ask you share a photo of ART UNEXPECTED

It should be something unusual, something out of the ordinary.  It doesn’t have to be beautiful. It doesn’t have to be constructed. It just has to have been impressive to you.

Here  are a few examples. Walking through a hill district in Seoul, a pair of old boots caught my eye. They’d been artfully re-purposed as planters and placed on steps leading up to a mural. The combination of colors, flowers and re-purposing struck me as being very spring like.

On another day, I was impressed by this painting’s  out-of-frame composition. Who said all paintings have to be contained within the frame?!

Street murals can be beautiful.  I particularly like it when murals and people interact, whether by accident or design.

Not all street art are murals. Urban graffiti has it’s own appeal. Sometimes the composition is a startling display of color, tags and structure.  The image isn’t pretty but it is striking.

I look forward to seeing your interpretations of ART UNEXPECTED.

      1. In some cases you have to wait a little… here my photos are larger than I normally insert into posts, because I wanted people to see them well 🙂 I’ll go and downsize them. thank you very much for your comment though!

  1. I like the Korean photo – somehow the woman in front of the mural seems to belong to it, the jacket (?) could be her head scarf blowing away, the railing behind looks as if she could lean on it. Great shot.
I like the others as well but this is my favourite.
