Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of the phrase: “Does it bring you joy?”
I’ve been trying to declutter my life. Twenty eight years of living in one house and two grown-up kids make for a lot of clutter. When not overcome by the magnitude of it all, I’ll blitz a room and throw everything out. “Does it bring you joy?” quickly turns into “Have you used it recently?” and “Do you even remember when last you did?”
If the answer is “No, No and No” – Straight into the bin!
Turns out that things rarely give me joy.
For this week’s Friendly Friday Photo Challenge I ask you to share a photo depicting SIMPLE JOYS.
Maybe it’s a picture of something that brings you joy. Or a portrait with an expression of joy. Or a place or time of joy. It’s your choice. Here are some of mine.
In this photo, a little monk delights in the unexpected pleasure of finding cake in the daily ration of alms.

In a Dempasar market, these joyful sisters are caught laughing out loud.

If you’ve ever had a sibling, you’d know the simple pleasure in keeping something that your brother would rather have.

Joy is not limited to humans either. Can any dog resist a day at the beach with the biggest stick ever? Anyone for a game of catch?

I look forward to seeing your interpretations of SIMPLE JOY.
Remember to include a link to this post and a comment below, so that I and others can find your response.
If you’re new to Friendly Friday, full instructions on how to participate can be found here.
This week’s challenge for SIMPLE JOYS goes up to Thursday, after which Amanda at StPA will post a new Friendly Friday challenge.

Getting rid of stuff is one of the things I like about moving – less to move, less to put away again never to be used or seen again until the next move! Very nice set of photos. Here’s my simple offering: https://grahamsisland.com/2020/02/07/beach-at-hualalai/.

So true. Somewhere buried in the garage are unpacked boxes from our first move 28 years ago. If & when I find it, I don’t think I’ll bother opening it up 🙂

Maybe you should. Who knows what treasures might be in those boxes. They’re like one of those time capsules that people bury.

Declutter your life? Ooooh how I know what you mean! Each time we move I’m thinking I’m going to start afresh but things seem to multiply by themselves!
Anyway, great prompt! I’ve been moaning quite a lot these days so it’s a perfect theme to remind us all to try focus on happy moments for a little while.
Here is my interpretation: https://lesfrenchchronicles.wordpress.com/2020/02/07/friendly-friday-simple-joys/
Have a great weekend!
