Friendly Friday Photo Challenge is FUTURE.
Last week, Snow announced that this was her final challenge as co-host. Snow and Amanda were the founders of Friendly Friday and they’ve been successful in building up a loyal following. Many of their topics have been thought provoking and provided launch points for my blog posts. I’ve been so impressed that I volunteered to be Amanda’s new partner in the 2020 Friendly Friday Challenges. Hopefully I will be as good as Snow!
So that’s a bit of what’s in my future for 2020. But other things have captured my interest too.
Lately, I’ve been trying my hand at pottery. It’s the start of a new addiction.
I am a newcomer to the art – my pathetic pots bear full testimony – but I’m really enjoying it. I could and do spend hours at the wheel, throwing and shaping lumps of clay. Some of my pots revert to lumps of clay but others actually make to the kiln. Will they survive and make it out of the kiln? Well, that’s for the future to see.
If you’re a fan of baking then you might know of The Great Bristish Bake Off. Turns out there is a similar series called the The Great Pottery Throw Down.
Warning! Danger of being hooked on pottery, binge watching all two seasons and then having to wait for Season 3 on a to be announced date in the future.
In any event, I will fire my pots in a couple weeks and if they survive, I’ll share them with you. In the meantime, I’m accepting ideas on what to do with all these little pots.

I loooooove pottery. I started over here in Brittany a couple of years ago. But I got very frustrated with my “teacher” who was seriously lacking creativity. Unless I find another place to train, I’m stuck 😦

I’m lucky in that I have a patient teacher who’ll ‘help’ me through my aspirational goals .. meaning telling me when something wont work or salvaging my wrecks! My pots have yet to live up to my goals, so they will be pretty boring … maybe even frightful! LOL.

I was forced to do regular monochrome things when I love the Japanese irregularity softness… Very frustrating.

This is exciting! I can well understand why you might become addicted! It seems the right time to indulge the creative artistic side of our nature without the restrictions of time and responsibilities. I am so looking forward to our 2020 Friendly Friday! It will be lots of fun! The future is indeed bright!

I’m intrigued by that show: if I watched it, would I become addicted to pottery too? I wonder 😋 Good luck for hosting and I’m sure you’ll do well! (The secret is: networking!)

This is awesome Sandy! Do you have a studio at home with the wheel and a kiln and when can I come over and play?

I wish I had a home studio. I’ve been eyeing my garage … once it’s been cleared of 28 years worth of stuff. In the meantime, I work out of an art studio under the skillful guidance of my teacher … who occasionaly rescues my pieces of clay 🙂
